Birders are astounded by the various species of feathered creatures located in Hendry County. The county has been in the top10 for found species in Backyard Bird Counts for the last five years. And the 2011 Big “O” Birding Festival sighted 139 different species of birds throughout the county.
Agriculture is big in Hendry County, so big that 72.5% of the land is used for agricultural purposes. The number one crop is citrus, followed by sugar cane and fresh vegetables.
